The year is drawing to its end. The fact that, our blue planet has finished its annual rotation around the sun is reason enough, to celebrate the New Years Eve. More than that, it’s a sign that life goes on and time flies irrespective of the troubles we go through, only to heal us and help us move forward in life with a new sense of hopes and conviction.
This season spend some time with your friends. Play some indoor sport with them like you are kids again and ask them to help you make some interesting DIY hats and props while Y'all are stuck at home and not able to go out because of the weather. I'm sure they'll love to do them with you and all of you shall have loads of fun indulging in some old indoor activities like its still the 90's. honestly, holidays are the only time we can indulge in with our friends and spend some quality time with them. otherwise, I feel in today's modern era we are more disconnected than we are connected by the internet. Moreover, it’ll help everyone to get to know each other better, know about the year, how it treated everyone, how everyone came out of their troubles and get inspired and start a new year with a renewed sense of hope, happiness, and creativity.
Isn't that what holidays are new years are all when we share our experiences or repeat the flashbacks or familiar stories of previous new year eves or holidays with the same old friends again and again, and that's what makes friendship so special about which we are forgetting quickly in today's fast-paced world of social media which provides us an illusion that we are more connected than ever.
Interesting DIY hats and props to make with friends
#1. Dramatic Props:
New Year is all about being dramatic and exciting. Let’s keep that mystical theme game strong this year as well. Let’s make some wonderful props for New Year Eve's party. Make dramatic mustaches’ and beards, cigars, bows, lips, pouty lips, lipsticks, cigarettes, phones, and of course some goggles. They look great and are super easy to make. Ask your friends to draw them on a drawing sheet and help them to cut it out. Now apply paint onto them and ask them to spray in some glitter on them. Once it dries them, ask them to punch holes and tie a string to it. You can keep these ready for your New Year Eve's party and ask your guest to indulge in the party spirit and wear them to welcome the New Year in fun and style.
#2. Printed props:
Approach your friends to give you some interesting quotes or thoughts he/she thinks is apt for the New Years time. Now get these quotes, thoughts or lines printed on color papers. Keep the size small, or else you can use it for no other purpose apart from the “Happy New Year” banner. Now once it’s all printed get your friends help to cut it out into imaginative prop shapes. Hand them to your guests, or stick them to your balloons. You can also attach them to your hats as hat bands or stick on hair bands and hand out one to each of your friends to wear when they arrive at the party.
#3. New Year crowns and Laurel wreaths
Go big on styles like reining kings and queens. Make some crowns and laurel wreaths. Use color papers and Christmas gift wrappers to make such wreaths. After all, everyone deserves the royalty of a king coz we all successfully completed a rotation around the Sun irrespective of our individual set of predicaments, alive and kicking and are still together!
#4. Headband
Write down your gang jokes/one-liner, individual nicknames, funny taglines, familiar one-liners you all have grown up with together. Ask your friends to write in their own calligraphic/ maverick style which they love/remind you of something funny and familiar. Once they are done writing, help them to cut these words out. Now stick one onto other and stick a string on it. Tie the loose ends of the string to make a headband. Ask them to wear these headbands to the party.
#5. Paper bag Hats
Use old paper bags. To make hats out of them, fold the open end into a tight headband and staple off the extra edges to make it strong. Now open the other end and help your friends to cut out a crown-like shape from the top. Allow them liberty to get creative and make any favorite shape or patterns they love. If they want, provide them with some acrylic colors so that they can paint these hats up and color the love. Ask them to write a New Year’s greeting on each of them and distribute it to your neighbors or on the street. just random things to spread some holiday joy to the world! 🙂
#6. Party hats:
Party hats are easy to make and can be finished in about ten minutes. Fold any paper you have and on it ask your friends to stick colored papers. Once it dries out ask them to paint New Year wishes/greetings on it. You can also ask them to number them to plan some interesting game for the party. Or you can help make some clock like designs on the hats. Use leftover Christmas baubles to hang to the tip of the hat. You can also use pom-poms or tinsel garlands at the tip to make it your own holiday hat.
#7. Magician’s hats
Taking inspiration from fedora hats or round hats, help your friends to make some top hats like those the magicians have. Use a colored mount board. Cut it into a rectangle and roll it. Staple the ends to seal it firmly. Now use another paper and stick it to an open end of the roll. Cut out a circle to make the headspace and stick it on the other end to make the top of the hat. Help your friends decorate this hat with clock drawings, paper cones, and pom-poms.
#8. Cup Hats
Make some unique cup hats. Use transparent plastic cups or the Styrofoam cups. Wrap a color paper on it. Now help out each other further to stick a bow or a prop on it.
So use some ideas from my list or sit with your friends to ask them their own unique ideas of hats which they’ll love to make with y'all and start the year on a wonderful creative note with everyone.
Happy New Year in Advance!!!!
