Local cuisine is a must
Being able to eat local cuisine must be a part of your travel, be it in different States or internationally. Do your research and look for outdoor venues that have received the requisite good reviews and book in advance. Whether it's full meals or just small local delicacies, food makes up a large part of culture and as such to enjoy and experience the culture of the place, eat their food and in the current times, do so in a well ventilated or outdoor venue.
The theatre or live shows that are in town
Being able to research online to see what or who is available to see and who is performing while you are in town is a great way to spend time on a trip and makes for a much more culturally diverse experience. Look for box office tickets in advance for all the shows that you haven't yet seen, and you'll be surprised at what's available.
Best hikes or walks in and around town
Every city or town will have open-air, green spaces that you can walk, if it's an inner-city trip, then look for parks or areas around the city. It's a good way to actually see the places you visit and will do wonders for your overall wellbeing. Again, the advice is to plan in advance, knowing where you plan to walk and reading all the advice on forums will make for a much safer and enjoyable outdoor based sightseeing.
Look for appropriate souvenirs for friends and family
Having no idea what you'reshopping for until you see it and then choosing something appropriate for specific family members or friends can be a great way to spend some time while on your trip. In the current climate, keep this to open-air markets or to times when there isn't a surge of other shoppers.
Leave some free time
No matter where you go and where you have traveled to, leave yourself some free time, where you can do whatever grabs youat the moment. Don't plan every second, and ensure that you have a decent amount of time to do whatever the mood and the place allow for. Whether you just relax and chill in your room or go out and explore without a clear route plan, having the ability to do whatever the day brings is a great way to experience a new place.
