Recently in the Lonely Planet's List of Best cities to visit in the world in 2019 Shenzhen was ranked in the coveted 2nd spot after European dreamland - Copenhagen. So, I decided to explore the city to find out whether it is actually that great? And, yes, it is an exceptionally beautiful place that celebrates modernity with a tinge of nature. From skyscrapers to bustling markets with sprawling nature reserves and parks Shenzhen is truly magical. Here's my list of Top 10 things to do in Shenzhen. So, go shopping in Shenzhen or let your hair loose or get ready to post tons of photos on Instagram with a vacation in Shenzhen.

Things to do in Shenzhen
#1. Have an affair with nature at Hong Kong Wetland Park
In the busy and noisy city of Hong Kong, this place is a true gem. A variety of birds, wildlife and picturesque landscapes will steal your heart at first sight. Though it is quite far from the city, a trip here will make your vacation in Hong Kong worthwhile. This place has got English Signage so there is no need to be disappointed for you not knowing Chinese. Go there to experience quietude. You need not to worry about finances as this is a very budget-friendly place.
#2. Hike the beautiful and prideful Wutong Mountain
Are you a fan of Hiking? If yes, then this is the place for you! Wutong Mountain is not only the tallest but also the first peak of Shenzen. Hiking along the mountainous terrain catch some gorgeous blooming of cotton azalea and clove Rhododendron. You have many routes to climb up to take your call. I recommend visiting on a sunny day in late spring or fall to witness the true beauty of Wuton.

#3. Bird-Watch at the Mai Po Nature Reserve
If you're a fan of birds then Mai Po Nature Reserve in Shenzhen is the ultimate place to be. You'll find tons of colorful migratory birds foraging the mudflats and marshes, especially during autumn and spring. Though the entry is restricted and you'll have to book online tickets in advance to reserve your seat amidst the breath-taking landscape but the place is worth a visit.

If you're an ambitious person like me and you have tall dreams that kiss the skies, then KK100 sky-scrapper in the financial district of Shenzhen is a place you have to visit. One of the most special moment that you'd be lucky to capture is the breath-taking sunset from the restaurant on the 94th floor. It's the second tallest building in Shenzhen.
#5. Witness Wow-some views from Ping'an International Financial Center
The tallest sky-scrapper in Shenzhen, second-tallest in China and fourth-tallest in the world, Ping An Finance Center is an architectural marvel. The bird-eye view from the 115th floor is spell-binding and something that you have to experience. Completed in the year 2017, Ping a Finance Center symbolically reflects the fast-paced and highly-ambitious city life of Shenzhen.
#6. Unwind with Nature or Watch the ecstatic city-lights from Lianhuashan Park
Situated in the middle of the bustling city, Lianhuashan Park is a great place to mediate all alone or enjoy a picnic with family or read books from the nearby library or hike up the 160m tall mountain at night to witness the dramatic lights of the city. Though the hike is a bit of a toil the views are promising.

Shop at your heart's content or hop from shop to shop. Experience the true colors of shopping in Shenzhen with a quick trip to Cocopark. The busy bustling streets of Cocopark has a chain of restaurants that serve lip-smacking, budget-friendly food. Whether you want German food or Korean food or Spicy Chinese Food or anything you'll find it here. There are some good malls where you can shop gifts for your friends. In short, Cocopark is a great place to spend an afternoon in Shenzhen.
#8. Find everything that you were looking for at Yijing Central Walk
If you still want to do more shopping in Shenzhen then visit the Yijing Central Walk. This clean and classy mall has an array of shops as well as restaurants where you can spend a great time with yourself or your family. The conceptual cafes are the things to look out for. They'll give you a magical outer-world experience.
#9. Indulge in tasteful BBQ at Dameisha Seaside Park
This quaint and clean beach is a proverbial retreat for anyone looking to spend a relaxing day in Shenzhen. Watch the waves come and go while munching on some delicious BBQ and ruminating on some philosophical thought.

Whether you are a history buff or an art lover, He Xiangning Art Museum is a classic location to feed your imagination and mind. Get to know the history behind Shenzhen and marvel at the skillful artwork. Do not miss the gorgeous light show.
